Upcoming Environmental Stuff

Hey, first of all, its official so I better tell everyone: I shall be the St Mikes Parish Assistant for Social Action by this time next month. Prayer would be appreciated.

Two biggish events on the horizon to do with Climate Change, as its the big Climate Negotiations this December in Copenhagen; a bad deal would condemn the world's poor, and no deal would (at least temporarily) damn Creation. Please pray for people like Gordon Brown and Barack Obama.

"Making Waves for Climate Justice" - Saturday 24th October
- Assemble Dean's Park (behind Minster)
- Wear blue - to represent rising flood/ocean waters
- Join hands to encircle the Minster
- With talks and films during the afternoon

"The Big Climate March" - Saturday 5th December
There'll be a coach going from York, more details in a month's time.
A massive London demonstration with backing from Christian Aid, Tearfund and hundreds of other organisations. Think Make Poverty History in Edinburgh or Jubilee 2000 in Birmingham. Its hoped Churches will make an extra effort to represent themselves, and hopefully there'll be a banner making workshop for churches to make a banner for themselves (I'm organising it!).
